Our Annual Show takes place in April and we use the time when the judging takes place to conduct our AGM. Our categories include flowers, fruit, veg but also some baking, crafts and photography. Its not a big show in comparison to other larger societies but we are always amazed at the talent of our members in these different areas. Each winner receives a quality plant and we award 2 cups: Best in Show and Judges Choice.
We also have a trophy called the Buzy Lizzie award, donated by a past member, that is awarded to the member who has contributed the most to the Society in the previous year.
All About BHS Membership
As a member you will be able to join us on the first Wednesday afternoon of the month from September until April for our regular meeting at St James Parish Centre in Weybridge where we invite speakers to give talks, presentations and demonstrations. We have time before the talks for informal chat, and serve tea and coffee. Our raffle always has good prizes and members bring garden related items such as magazines, and packets of seeds that are free to the first takers. We also have a plant sale. We are a small Society with about 50 members and we regularly get 30 plus attending the meetings, so no-one is an outsider.
We are enthusiastically looking for new members to bring fresh ideas
to our group.
Membership Fee
Annual Membership is £10.00 renewable on January of each year.
Monthly meetings are £2.00 for members & £3.00 for non-members.
Summer garden visit costs depend upon individual gardens, and we always ask for tea and cake (we like cake).
We also like gardens that sell plants.
During the summer months we visit gardens and try to get the owners to open especially for us. We try to keep the driving distances as short and easy as possible and have a good car sharing network for those who don't drive. We arrange for an optional country pub lunch to fit in with the timings.
Our Annual coach trip is always very popular and well attended.
Each year a member hosts a Summer party in their garden.
